Abstract (PDF)
Graphical Abstract:
The effect of phase and chemical composition of natural quartz sand, binder and burnable additives was studied. The conditions of application of the membrane and biocide layers on the formation of porous ceramic and microfiltration membranes were investigated. It is shown that a crystalline oxide of Si(IV) is determinant for obtaining the ceramic materials. The presence of carbonates (calcite, dolomite, aragonite, etc.) and crystalline aluminosilicates (microcline, albite, phlogopit, etc.) leads to a decrease in mechanical strength of ceramics. The biocide coating designed to protect the ceramic membrane surfaces from biofouling was applied and its anti-bacterial activity was shown.

Abstract (PDF)
Graphical Abstract:
Ion-exchange properties of natural zeolites of Georgia with a relatively low Si/Al ratio have been studied: analcimes are characterized  by selectivity series: Na+>K+>Ag+>NH4+>Ca+2>Sr+2>Li+; for phillipsites selectivity sequences are different for calcium- and potassium forms; selectivity sequence for scolecite is: Sr+2>Ba+2>Rb+>Ca+2>Cs+>K+>NH4+>Na+>Mg+2>Li+>Cd+2>Cu+2> Mn+2> Zn+2>Co+2>Ni+2.

Abstract (PDF)
Graphical Abstract:
This study describes performance of a hybrid constructed wetland (CW) for treating wastewater from small farm in Czech Republic. TheCW consisting of two horizontal filters, one vertical filter and three shallow pondsand reduced inflow values of 25.400 mg/L COD and 2.640 mg/L BOD5 by up to 99%.

Abstract (PDF)
Graphical Abstract:
The incidence and the type of acute chemical poisoning in Republic of Moldova during 2011-2015 were assessed. Records show 22458 cases of poisonings, including 919 death cases. The analysis of poisoning cases involving various types of chemical substances causing the intoxication reveals that the medicines-related poisoning accounts for the highest record of cases (6971), followed by alcohol poisoning, 6556 cases, gas poisoning is the third, with 1860 cases, and pesticide-related poisoning, with 707 cases. Age and gender characteristics of chemical poisonings and ways of exposure to chemicals are discussed.

Abstract (PDF)
Graphical Abstract:
This paper demonstrates the possibility to use ceftriaxone (CEFTR) active compound from expired Cefort®as additive in nickel electrodeposition from Watts baths. Electrochemical behaviour and the influence of CEFTR on nickel electroplating were studied by electrochemical methods. Experimental data recommends CEFTR as additive in nickel electroplating from Watts baths.

Abstract (PDF)
Graphical Abstract:
Comparing the problems in Romania and Senegal, regarding wastewater treatment, the present paper aims to identify the best methods and techniques to treat the municipal wastewater in small treatment plants with sequential operation. This paper examines the possibility of using Sequencing Batch Reactor (SBR) process to treat the municipal wastewater characterized by low flow. This paper also presents a comparative analysis of the degree of purification achieved in a SBR wastewater treatment plant, as well as legislative regulations in Romania and Senegal. Finally, the paper identifies the possible uses of the treated wastewater in different household activities.

Abstract (PDF)
Graphical Abstract:  The paper proposes an artificial neural network model of multilayers perceptron type (MLP3:10:1) adapted for mechanical-chemical treatment system of an industrial effluent (i.e. coagulation-flocculation - sedimentation applied for an industrial effluent produced in a manufacturing plant of bricks and other ceramics) which is further optimized and tested for its validation.

Abstract (PDF)
Graphical Abstract: Two crystalline compounds of germanium(IV) with malic acid (HMal) and 1,10ʹ-phenanthroline (phen) - [Ge(HMal)2(phen)]•pheh•2H2O (I) and [CuCl(phen)2][Ge(OH)(HMal)2] (II) were synthesized for the first time and characterized by elemental analysis, IR-spectroscopy and thermogravimetric analysis. There was elucidated from single-crystal X-ray diffraction that two different forms of Germanium are implemented: Ge4+ (I) and hydrolyzed GeOH3+ (II) to form distorted octahedron and pyramid respectively.

Abstract (PDF)
Graphical Abstract:
The novel N-(methylene-2-pyridine)-N,N-bis(diethoxyphosphorylmethyl)amine ligand (L) was obtained through a double Kabachnik-Fields reaction, starting from 2-aminomethyl pyridine (2-picolylamine). Based on the L ligand, a new palladium(II) coordination compound [Pd(L)2Cl2] has been synthetized and comprehensively characterized by spectroscopic methods (1H NMR, UV-Vis), ESI mass spectrometry and X-ray crystallography.
