Graphical Abstract: The contact non-equilibrium low-temperature plasma technique is used to synthesize silver nanoparticles (AgNPs) employing trisodium citrate as capping agent. The AgNPs were characterized using UV-Vis spectroscopy, scanning electron microscopy, X-ray diffraction and zeta potential analysis. Additionally, the antibacterial properties of the synthesized AgNPs were assessed.

Graphical Abstract: This contribution presents investigations into possible effects of Ce3+ and Mn2+ on the reduction of UV-spectral signal for I3- observed e.g. in the Dushman reaction. The potential of the metal ions to form complexes with iodine-containing species was analysed. It was shown that no complex ions are formed between Ce3+ and Mn2+ metals ions with IO3-, I-, I2 species. Only the formation of a very weak CeI32+ complex ion was found to occur. An effect of a complex formation on the studied systems could be excluded.

Graphical Abstract: A new Co(III) complex [CoIII(2,3-pdcH)3(H2O)3] (2,3-pdcH – monoanion of 2,3-pyridinedicarboxylic acid) has been synthesized from Co(II) salt at room temperature by using nonhydrothermal method and (NH4)2S2O8 as oxidant. The influence of the type of Co(II) salt used to the synthesis of the final product was investigated. The complex was characterized by elemental analyses, IR and UV-VIS spectroscopy, single crystal X-Ray diffraction and thermogravimetric analyses. The complex crystallizes in the monoclinic space group P21/c. The crystal structure reveals a homoleptic complex with a distorted octahedral geometry, where the ligand acts as monodeprotonated N, O-chelating anion.

Graphical Abstract: Green synthesis of silver nanoparticles (AgNPs) using Lantana camara yellow flower extract via microwave irradiation and ultrasound methods was conducted. The research was aimed at evaluating the effect of the synthesis method and also the time of treatment during synthesis on the particle size and antioxidant and antibacterial activities of the AgNPs. Analysis of the nanoparticles was performed using UV-Vis spectroscopy, transmission electron microscope (TEM), particle size analyzer, and Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR). The present results support the advantages of plant extract and the green method for the production of nanoparticles for further potential applications.

Graphical Abstract: The state of water in a polyacrylamide (PPA) gel has been studied by the 1H NMR spectroscopy. It is shown that the PAA gel can serve as a container for prolonged retention of the Enoxil preparation without changing its chemical composition. At the same time, the molecular structures of Enoxil bind strongly to polymer chains, probably due to the formation of hydrogen-bound complexes with amino and imino groups.

Graphical Abstract: New mononuclear six-coordinate lanthanide coordination compounds [Ln (HL)3Cl3] (HL = (2,2,2-trichloro-N-(dipiperidin-1-yl-phosphoryl)acetamideCCl3C(O)N(H)P(O)[N(CH2)5]2, carbacylamidophosphate (CAPh) type ligand) have been synthesized from non-aqueous solutions. The complexes have been characterized by elemental analysis, spectroscopic methods (FTIR, 1H- and 31P-NMR, UV-Vis). The structure of [Sm(HL)3Cl3] has been further confirmed by single crystal X-ray diffraction analysis.

Graphical Abstract: The study describes the synthesis of 11-homodrim-6,8-dien-12-oic acid N-substituted amides containing diazine, 1,2,4-triazole and carbazole rings based on commercially available sclareolide. The mentioned compounds were prepared for the first time by interaction of the generated in situ acyl chloride with some heterocyclic amines: 2- and 4-aminopyrimidine, 2-aminopyrazine, 3-amino-1,2,4-triazole and N-aminocarbazole. Their structures were fully elucidated by elemental and spectral analyses (IR, 1H and 13C NMR).

Graphical Abstract: MCM-41-type silicas were obtained by template-assisted condensation of TEOS and β-CD-silanes. Removal of methyl red from phosphate buffer solutions as a function of pH and dye equilibrium concentration. Introduction of cyclic oligosaccharide in silica surface layer leads to the ecnhancement of sorption effieciency towards methyl red.

Abstract (PDF)
Graphical Abstract: The direct template method was used for the synthesis of mesoporous organosilica sorbents of SBA-15 type with phosphonic acid groups using sodium metasilicate (SS) as a source of silica. The presence of functional groups in the synthesized samples was confirmed by IR spectroscopy and elemental analysis. This approach allowed producing relatively cheap materials with ordered structure, developed specific surface (550-700 m2/g) and high sorption volume (0.74-0.81 cm3/g). The optimal sodium metasilicate (SS):diphosphoethyltriethoxysilane (DPTS) ratio for the synthesis of SBA-15 type organosilicas with phosphonic acid residues was found to be 10:2.

Abstract (PDF)
Graphical Abstract: A new synthetic extractive protocol for the synthesis of Cu(II) and Co(III) complexes of bis(2,2/-methylylidenephenol)diaminoethane (H2BMPDE) in a single simple step was performed. The obtained data indicated the formation of complexes with 1:1 molar ratio of metal:ligand, of distorted square planar and distorted octahedral geometries. In vitro antibacterial screening revealed that the complexes were active against clinically important gram-negative bacteria (Escherichia coli, pseudomonas, and gram-positive bacterium (Staphylococcus aureus). The synthesis of the complexes was optimized to make it more suitable and efficient for industrial scale production.
